Hands and feet... have you ever noticed how much we need them? They feed us. They clothe us. They work to meet a need. They get us from here to there. We can survive without them, but only if we have someone or something to act in their place.

In December 2003, jobless and in trouble, Pamela could not find any help available to her in Comal County. Eventually she landed on her feet instilled with a burning desire to help others in the same position. ”Why take everything I learned and put it in the bottom drawer? I want to take it and share it with the community.”

Out of that circumstance The Hope Center was born. Pamela Barquest now leads this outreach ministry of Riverside Community that helps people in crisis. Here folks find resources-contact names and numbers for agencies that can help them find a job, get financial aid, secure housing/clothing/food, escape from an abusive situation and many other life-changing opportunities. Above all they find love and encouragement, “Sometimes doing certain things would enable them to stay where they are. But they need to stand up and be who God created them to be.” Loving, encouraging, feeding, restoring, renewing-the hands and feet of Christ at work in the world at The Hope Center.

As for staff – The Hope Center is staffed by volunteers. Our volunteers include students, mothers, dads, grandmothers, friends and family. Do you fit into any of these categories? Then you could be a Hope Center volunteer.
